Globe election refers to a procedure by which a group of employees are given opportunity to decide whether to be represented as a distinct group or to be represented as a larger established unit. Here, a larger established unit refers to a collective bargaining arrangement. Globe election is also known as self-determination election.

The following is an example of a case law defining globe election :

A globe election is defined as employees sharing the same community of interest as an already represented unit of employees In addition, they are permitted to vote whether to join the existing bargaining unit.[NLRB v. Abex Corporation-Aerospace Div., 543 F.2d 719 (9th Cir. 1976)]
